Lovable

Lovable is an AI software engineer, which enables anyone to build for the web. The pricing page says you simply chat to instantly build websites and web apps, with no technical knowledge needed. Usage is measured in credits that pay for messages, Cloud hosting, and AI features inside an app. A free daily grant exists, and paid plans add a credit balance. The public FAQ names Pro, Business, and Enterprise without printing a dollar price.

Is Lovable right for you?

Lovable fits people who will describe a website or web app in chat and share one credit pool. It is a weak fit if you need a published dollar price. Business costs more than Pro, and no amount is shown. Workspaces support unlimited members on all plans, and plans are priced by the credits they include, not by seats.

A good fit for

  • Describing a website or web app in chat and iterating by message.
  • A class or team that should share one credit pool instead of buying seats.
  • Adding the described Cloud backend or a built-in checkout to that app.

Know the trade-offs

  • The public pricing FAQ does not show a dollar amount for Pro, Business, or Enterprise.
  • A credit's value depends on the plan and the feature, so credits are not equal across plans.
  • Daily build grants expire at the end of the day, and monthly plan credits also expire.

Chat that builds, priced by mode

Lovable is an AI software engineer, which enables anyone to build for the web. You simply chat to instantly build websites and web apps, with no technical knowledge needed. The input is the message. Pricing examples show the output: button styles updated, a footer removed, authentication pages and routes added, or a landing page with three generated images, a theme, and five sections. Default Mode credits vary based on task complexity. Plan Mode is 1 credit per message. The FAQ prices those examples at 0.50, 0.90, 1.20, and 1.70 credits. Hover the three dots in message history to see a message's cost. Credits are used when you send a message to Lovable, not while typing or editing, and the count depends on the request's complexity.

Free grants and the paid credit balance

Credits are units Lovable uses to measure and pay for usage across your workspace. Starting to build on Lovable is free. The free plan includes a daily grant of 5 build credits (up to 30 a month), plus monthly grants of 20 Cloud credits, and 4 credits for AI features in user apps. Daily build grants expire at the end of the day and do not roll over. When a paid plan ends, the workspace switches to Free and only those grants remain. Paid plans have access to a credit balance for messages, Cloud hosting, and AI features in the app. Pro and Business subscriptions include grants for building and hosting with Cloud. Subscriptions also include a daily grant of 5 build credits, with some regions capped at 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits a month. Monthly credits expire two months after issue. Annual credits expire one month after the annual period ends. Top-ups last twelve months and are not refundable.

Cloud backend, connectors, and checkout

Lovable Cloud gives your app a full backend with no setup - a database, user authentication, file storage, and serverless functions. You describe what you need and Lovable builds it. For most smaller or new apps, hosting does not cost anything, because publish, view, and keep-running are covered by the included grant. Significant visitor traffic or size can incur cost on top of that grant, taken from the credit balance. Native connectors cover databases, analytics, email, content, and productivity tools, with hundreds more through built-in automation. Most connect in a few clicks. Built-in payments add subscriptions and one-time checkout. You can set up a test checkout in minutes and go live the same day, with keys stored securely and used only where they are needed. The pages do not name a processor or a fee.

Shared workspaces and who owns the code

Every plan belongs to a workspace, and people you invite share its credits. Workspaces support unlimited members on all plans, and plans are priced by the credits they include, not by seats. More members do not change the subscription cost. They spend the shared pool faster. Owners and admins can set a default monthly credit limit and per-member overrides. One subscription and one invoice cover the group, and each member can keep their own projects. You own your code, which means the apps, websites, and other projects you build with Lovable, customer data stored in Lovable, as well as any AI output you generate in Lovable. Third-party rights in the underlying models still apply. Canceling keeps remaining credits until the billing period ends, then the plan switches to Free. Business adds features on top of Pro and prices credits higher, while run and in-app AI stay on the same cost basis. The Enterprise plan offers volume-based credit pricing.

Ways to use Lovable

Draft a landing page on the free grant

Is one free-grant message that asks for a landing page with images. The FAQ's matching example costs 1.70 credits and creates three images, a theme, and five sections. Hover the three dots before you send a second message. The free plan includes a daily grant of 5 build credits, up to 30 a month.

Add sign-in and a Cloud database

A suggested follow-up is the authentication example, priced in the FAQ at 1.20 credits for pages, logic, and route updates. Describe stored users or files in a later message. Lovable Cloud gives your app a full backend with no setup - a database, user authentication, file storage, and serverless functions. Smaller or new apps are described as covered by the included hosting grant. Significant traffic or size can draw on the credit balance.

Share one pool across a class or team

A suggested class or team setup is one workspace. Upgrade it, invite the group, and let each member keep their own projects. Workspaces support unlimited members on all plans, and plans are priced by the credits they include, not by seats. Set a default monthly credit limit and override it for heavy users. Inviting people does not change the subscription cost. It spends the shared pool faster. The FAQ does not show how many credits a named plan includes.

How to get started with Lovable

  1. 1

    Start and send a message

Start for free, then chat the site or app you want. A message is what spends build credits.

  2. 2

    Read the message cost

Hover the three dots in message history. Default Mode varies by task complexity. Plan Mode is 1 credit per message.

  3. 3

    Describe Cloud or checkout

Ask for a database, authentication, file storage, or serverless functions, or for subscriptions and one-time checkout.

  4. 4

    Invite into one workspace

When more people will build, put them on one workspace, set a monthly credit limit, and read the plan's credit total before you upgrade.

Alternatives to Lovable

Bolt

You want another builder named beside Lovable, not this credit workspace.

Lovable's guides index lists Bolt among AI app builders next to Lovable, v0, Replit, Cursor, and Softr. Choose Bolt when that other named builder is the job and Lovable's shared credit pool is not.

Replit

You want the browser-based builder described on Lovable's guides index.

A Lovable guides blurb says Replit offers zero-setup browser-based building. That is a different job from Lovable's chat credits, Cloud backend, and seat-free workspace. No Replit price is copied here.

Cursor

You want editor-based changes inside an existing codebase.

The same Lovable guides blurb says Cursor gives AI-powered editing inside VS Code. Choose it when the work is editing in that kind of environment rather than chatting a new Lovable app into a shared credit pool.
