Playground AI is a design studio for stickers, merch, posters, logos, and related graphics. You describe an idea or start from templates across 24 categories. Named models include GPT Image 2, Nano Banana, Seedream, Muse Image, and Playground v3. The pricing page lists Free, Pro, and Pro Plus, with 3-hour generation windows and shared monthly credits. The homepage says it is free to start and that no credit card is required.
Playground AI fits a logo, poster, sticker, or shirt when you want templates and named image models in one editor. Free is the casual card, but the page disagrees with itself: the card says up to 10 images every 3 hours, and the table says 5 PGv3 images. Pro raises that window to 75 images and 150 shared credits, with edits up to 2048×2048. Pro Plus drops the generation cap, lists 1,000 credits, and edits up to 3840×2160. A small app that needs a public API is a weaker fit. API talks are limited to partners expected to generate more than 1M images a month.
A good fit for
Starting a logo, poster, sticker, or shirt from a template category.
Editing with background removal, upscale, or a non-destructive fix.
Comparing Free, Pro, and Pro Plus credit windows before paying.
Know the trade-offs
The free 3-hour cap is shown as 10 images on the card and 5 PGv3 images in the table.
Per-model rows assume you spend the whole month on that one model. Credits are shared.
Nano Banana Pro is named on the free-start homepage line, and the free column in the table is a dash.
Templates, models, edits, and the credit window.
Templates first, then a plain-language prompt
The homepage calls Playground the AI design studio for everyone and says to turn an idea into stickers, merch, posters, and anything you can dream up. A section says there are thousands of templates across 24 categories, designed to customize, not just copy. Named categories include T-shirt, logo, poster, stickers, mockups, wallpaper, social post, cards, patterns, memes, and ebook cover. The prompt section says to describe what you are imagining. Our AI fills in everything else. Color, style, layout, the works. A sample logo prompt is tagged Nano Banana Pro. A wedding-envelope sample is tagged GPT Image 2, which the page calls the wordsmith: crisp headlines, legible body copy, and layouts that feel designed, not generated.
Under the tools heading, the page says to tap a tool, name what you want, get it back in seconds. Every fix is non-destructive, so you can keep tweaking. The tools named in that row are Swap style, Remove object, Add to mockup, and Smart layers. A separate tools list names Background Removal, Upscale, AI Resize, Logo Generator, Mockup Generator, and File Converter. Pro includes upscaling and background removal. Pro Plus says both are unlimited. The free card lists neither. Pro caps generate, resize, and AI-extend at 2048×2048 with GPT Image 2 and GPT Image 2.5. Pro Plus raises that to 3840×2160.
The homepage says you get GPT Image 2, Nano Banana Pro, and Seedream, in one place, for free to start. The menu also lists Muse Image, GPT Image 2.5, Nano Banana, and Playground v3. Auto uses Muse Image for free users and GPT Image 2.5 Flare for Pro, Pro Plus, template creators, and admins. Transparent images use Flare. Both cost 1 credit per image. Credits are shared across all models; the numbers above assume you use only that one model for the full month. Standard models use 1 credit. Nano Banana Pro uses 4. The compare table then shows a dash for Nano Banana Pro on Free, 10 images on Pro, and 250 on Pro Plus. A matching row does not add a second monthly pool.
The copyright answer says you own the images you create on Playground and may use them personally or commercially, naming YouTube, Etsy, and Instagram, if you follow the terms. Free, Pro, and Pro Plus includes a world-wide, royalty-free license. The compare table did not show a yes or no for that row. API access is not a self-serve switch. Pro Plus lists "Priority support & API access" under extras, and a line says to fill out a form to request it. The FAQ says Playground is working with a select number of partners and is prioritizing people whose users will generate more than 1M images a month.
A suggested start, is the Logo or Poster category plus a short description like the candy-shop sample. GPT Image 2 is the model the page ties to headlines and body copy. Type at 2048×2048 is on the Pro card for GPT Image 2 and GPT Image 2.5. Pro Plus includes 3840×2160. This is a suggested layout path.
Shirt, sticker, or includes-on-demand art
Suggested for merch: the homepage lists T-shirt, stickers, mockups, includes on demand, and Cricut, and it says includes-ready in days. Add to mockup is a named non-destructive tool. It includes 2 downloads per day on Free and Unlimited on Pro and Pro Plus. SVG shows Unlimited only twice, so a free SVG allowance is not shown.
A batch that has to stay inside the window
Suggested before promising a same-day batch: the free card says up to 10 images every 3 hours, the PGv3 row says 5, and Pro says 75. Pro Plus says no generation caps. Limits are based on a rolling hourly period. Named models also spend the shared monthly pool, and Nano Banana Pro costs 4 credits.

The free the same world-wide royalty-free license line as the paid cards. The 10-versus-5 image conflict is unresolved. Nano Banana Pro costs 4 credits and is dashed on the free column, even though the homepage says those models are free to start. Pro lists 10 Nano Banana Pro images and Pro Plus lists 250, under a note that per-model counts assume one model all month. Free generation slows at peak, then waits. Multiple accounts used to dodge the free limit are not allowed.
Playground AI: common questions
What does the free card actually allow?
The free card says up to 10 images every 3 hours and 3 monthly generations across Muse Image, Nano Banana, GPT Image 2, GPT Image 2.5, and Seedream. The table says 5 PGv3 images in that window, 3 monthly credits, and 2 downloads per day. Peak hours are slower, then you wait. The homepage adds free to start and no credit card. It does not resolve 10 versus 5.
Pro is $15 and $12 per month, annual billing at -20%, with $144 charged annually. Pro Plus is $45 and $36 per month, with $432 charged annually. The page labels Annual and Monthly billing and does not add tax. Pro Plus is marked best value and says there are no generation caps.
Monthly credits are 3, 150, and 1,000, shared across models and refreshed monthly. Standard generations cost 1 credit. Nano Banana Pro costs 4. Per-model image counts assume that model is the only one you use all month. Auto picks Muse Image on Free and GPT Image 2.5 Flare on Pro and Pro Plus. Transparent images use Flare.
Who owns the image, and is commercial use on every card?
You own the images you create on Playground. Personal or commercial use is allowed, with YouTube, Etsy, and Instagram named, if you follow the terms. Free, Pro, and Pro Plus includes a world-wide, royalty-free license. The compare table did not show a yes or no for that row.
When does a free limit reset, and can you open a second account?
Limits are based on a rolling hourly period. Capacity returns as older images fall out of the prior hours. Multiple accounts used to dodge free limits are not allowed. A public connection where others use Playground can raise the same error. The FAQ says to buy Pro or switch connections.
API access is a request. Playground is working with a select number of partners, prioritizing those whose users will generate more than 1M images a month. Pro Plus lists priority support and API access. To cancel, open your avatar, then Billing, where you can also update a card or download a receipt. Only credit and debit cards are accepted.
