Khanmigo

Usable Khanmigo pages are the Khan Academy district site and a teacher blog, because the product URL left that host. They describe teacher insights, an AI tutor in lessons, and Writing Coach. Teachers are offered free access in 180+ countries. Student access is limited to U.S. parents and learners, with no dollar figure. District Starter is $10/student/year for 1,000 or fewer licenses.

Is Khanmigo right for you?

Khanmigo, on these pages, fits a teacher who wants lesson plans, rubrics, hooks, and groupings, or a U.S. district buying licenses that include 1:1 support and Writing Coach. It is a weak fit if you need a learner checkout price or proof of the gain headlines. The product URL left khanacademy.org, and the pages that stayed do not show a parent or learner amount.

A good fit for

  • Teachers in a listed country who want the free Khanmigo for Teachers pilot.
  • U.S. districts comparing Enterprise Starter at 1,000 or fewer licenses with a larger Enterprise demo.
  • Reading what Writing Coach and teacher AI tools are said to include before a rostering decision.

Know the trade-offs

  • Student Khanmigo access is described as U.S. parents and learners only, and these pages do not show that price.
  • Teacher access is unavailable in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and named regions of Ukraine.
  • District pages cite 30-point gains, triple average gains, and students 6 times more likely to hit a level.

Teacher tasks, Writing Coach, and two district editions.

What the district pages say Khanmigo does

On the districts homepage, Khanmigo gives teachers clear insights and ready-to-use actions while bringing district goals into the classroom. A later block says students deserve more than chatbots, and that the AI tutor offers support grounded in real learning, woven into expert-created lessons. Writing Coach is separate: students get step-by-step writing guidance, and teachers get detailed insights. The pricing page puts the same pieces on both editions: a personalized learning system embedded with Khanmigo 1:1 student support and Khanmigo teacher AI tools, plus Khanmigo Writing Coach, with unlimited access. Content named there is math, science, reading, test prep, and financial literacy. Neither page shows a chat transcript.

The teacher pilot: tasks, languages, and excluded places

The blog says Microsoft and Khan Academy are bringing the pilot of Khanmigo for Teachers to 180+ countries and territories, powered by Azure OpenAI Service. A December 4, 2025 update adds 30+ experimental languages. The button is Get Your Free Khanmigo Access. Khanmigo walks you through each of its 20+ teacher activities, and prompting is not required. Named tasks are standards-aligned differentiated lesson plans, rubrics such as one for an expository essay, lesson hooks, and groupings that account for accommodations. Access is not available in Cuba, Iran, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Syria, or Russia-controlled territories in Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk. Student access for Khanmigo is only available to parents and learners in the U.S. No parent price or child cap is shown.

Enterprise Starter at $10 and Enterprise by demo

Enterprise Starter is the card that says choose this for 1,000 or fewer student licenses, priced at $10/student/year and bought by credit card. Teachers roster their own students. Learning is on-demand video, and implementation support is email. Terms must be accepted as written. The FAQ says they cannot be negotiated and that a purchase order is not accepted. MAP Growth paths are not sold on this edition. The FAQ says to use a demo form if you want that add-on under 1,000 licenses. Enterprise says choose this for more than 1,000 student licenses and offers a free demo with no dollar amount. The FAQ says both editions include the same trusted content, the same personalized learning system, and the same AI tools for students, teachers and administrators. Enterprise adds live professional learning, Clever or ClassLink rostering, and MAP Growth paths as a no-charge add-on. Both cards also list administrator reporting and single sign-on.

Free lessons versus a Khanmigo license

Khan Academy is 100% free for independent learners, teachers, and parents, with lessons in math, science, reading, test prep, and computer science. Districts get an Enterprise version with rostering and administrator reports. That free-lessons sentence is not Khanmigo for Teachers, and it is not the $10 student license. The blog's free teacher signup is a third door. Security text is on the pricing cards: student privacy and data security, SOC-audited, FERPA and COPPA compliant, and a VPAT for WCAG 2.1AA.

Ways to use Khanmigo

A teacher drafting next week's rubric

Follows the blog's task list. A teacher in an allowed country uses the free signup, then asks for an expository-essay rubric, a lesson hook, or a differentiated plan. The post says the product walks you through each of its 20+ activities without prompting. Grouping that accounts for accommodations is the fourth named task. Treat the output as a draft. The pages do not show an export for the rubric or how a standard code is chosen.

A district picking a license size

A suggested purchasing pass starts from the license count. At 1,000 or fewer, the path is Enterprise Starter at $10/student/year by credit card, with teachers rostering students. Above 1,000, the card says request a demo, with Clever or ClassLink rostering and MAP Growth paths as a no-charge add-on. Both list 1:1 student support, teacher AI tools, and Writing Coach. Under 1,000 licenses, the FAQ says MAP Growth paths are not sold online. Suggested only. These pages do not show a tax line or a renewal term.

Writing practice with a teacher view

A suggested classroom use puts students in Writing Coach. The districts page says that is step-by-step guidance, with detailed insights for teachers. Pricing cards include the coach with unlimited access on both editions, next to moderation flags. The teacher blog does not describe the coach. It limits non-district student access to U.S. parents and learners. Do not assume the coach is inside the free teacher pilot. Grade bands and a way to turn flags off are not stated.

Alternatives to Khanmigo

Quizgecko

The job is a quiz from your own material, not a district roster.

Khanmigo's pages describe lesson plans, rubrics, Writing Coach, and a per-student license. Choose Quizgecko when the work is quizzes apart from that license.

Knowt

Students need a study listing instead of a district tutor seat.

Knowt is another education entry. Khanmigo's usable pages are teacher prep, Writing Coach, and district plans. Choose Knowt when the job is independent study rather than a Khan Academy roster.
